# Setting up your new computer safely

1. **Machine name.** Don't put your real name on it

2. **User Name.** Don't put your real name there, use "user" instead

3. **Create a second user.** Call this one "admin" and use it daily.

4. **Antivirus.** Don't use antivirus, use Windows defender or the basic one.

5. **Computer is temporary.** Don't use it as permanent. Use open source apps to switch easily. Transfer files to secure places (cloud, SSD, etc...)

6. **Email client.** Don't use the built in one or the classic ones, use Thunderbird instead.

7. **Privacy Badger.** Extension for browsers, blocks cookies, blocks tracking

8. **VPN.** Install for a safety browsing

9. **Secure boot.** Turn it off for a safe use, if your computer is exposed to people leave it on

10. **Firewalls.** Don't turn it off, manually decide which apps can connect and which can't

11. **Security updates.** Don't be always on the latest version, it can have problems, it is safier to update with a little delay

12. **Intel AMT (Vpro)c.** Turn off in order to block the remote access

# Things to do before deleting an email account 

(google accounts mainly xd)

1.  google yourself using your nickname
2.  find out which sites still have information about you
3.  delete your account in those sites
4.  only when there are no more traces of you online you can delete your main account
