## 2. How to save money

1. Recognise that every single time you spend money you are giving away your freedom
2. Recognise that everytime you spend money you are making somebody else rich, not yourself
3. Recognise that people trying to increase their status is actually low status, because if they were high status, you wouldn't have to prove it by spending
4. Focus on the main and continuous expenses, not the very small expenses
5. Spend money if it is going to earn you more money
6. Live in a country with a lower cost of living (eg. India, Thailand) while earning in a country with a higher cost of living (eg. USA, UK)
7. You can't spend your way to happiness/spend your way out of problems. So act slowly, don't be in a rush to spend
8. Track how much you earn & how much you spend

Do you listen to music when working? If yeah, what?

**Benedek Santa**

here are my favorites:

for work, getting into flow (I don't know why, but this works too well, once I got into the flow, and accidentally made a whole website)

creative thinking / journaling a huge playlist, that puts me in a creative and positive mood at the start of my day

Brain.fm it works, but I don't use it as much as I used it in the past

## 4. Dopamine Detox

Our brain always makes comparisons
Our society is full of instant gratification stuff. Example of the carrot and the chocolate

With some techniques (pomodoro, 5 sec...) we will not be on the good track (mario luna said it) those techniques bring us into full cycles of instant gratification and depression

24 hours instant gratification fasting. Dopamine is the molecule of more ("hooked" is a good book to understand it). Drug addicts use dopamine too, we are not so different...

Find the late gratification. Leave being a consumer and become a producer

## 5. How to achieve alignment

1. Be authentic (no lies to others or to yourself)
2. How you spend your time (find a purpose)
3. We are different than what we think we are
   - Change bad thoughts to good ones (bus... gratitude)
   - Don't escape the thoughts, relax instead (holidays... stressed calm)
   - Be aware of what you desire

## 6. How to beat procrastination

Procrastination is an emotional problem and is the byproduct of: **positive emotions - negative emotions**

When negatives are greater than positives then procrastination occurs

**Positive emotions are the accelerator of the engine:**

- **Desire.** Like Wolfy said, the vision for the future.
- **Pleasure.** _The one we should be focusing on._ Doing a thing for the sake of doing that thing. Create for yourself, audience of one. Most great things in life are a marathon, not a sprint. _Intrinsic motivation._

**Negative emotions are the breaks of the engine.** We have to understand where do they come from and summarise them in a single sentence. The most common are:

- **Fear of failure.** The mind makes a prediction of whether or not we're going to achieve those goals. If it thinks we cannot achieve them then anxiety and fear of failure are created ("why to try if we aren't going to do it?"). 3 ways to overcome it:

  1. **Fear of failure doesn't exist if you don't care about the outcome.** Pleasure principle, doing something just for the sake of doing something. _Reduce the focus on the destination_ and the focus on the journey will appear automatically.

  2. **Fear of failure isn't created if we know with certainty we'll achieve the outcome.** To increase the certainty follow the steps of people who have done it before. Know that the _causes_ we implement will lead to the _effects_ we desire, we are not going to be worried.

  3. **Recognise that failure isn't really failure.** The path to success is through failure. Failure is where you learn the most

- **Perfectionism.** Perfection is created through _imperfect actions._ Example of the class split in 2, one group to take 100 pictures and the other group only 1 to get an A.
